Tab Brake does not collect, transmit, or share any personal data. Everything stays on your device.

Data collection

Tab Brake collects no personal information. The extension stores the following data locally on your device using Chrome's built-in chrome.storage.local API:

• Your configured tab limit (a single number).
• Your preference toggles (enabled/disabled, badge on/off).
• A history of tab-count snapshots (timestamp + count) used to generate the usage chart. No URLs, page titles, or browsing activity are recorded.

Data sharing

Tab Brake does not transmit any data to external servers, analytics services, or third parties. There are no network requests made by this extension.

Data retention

Tab-count history is automatically pruned to the last 30 days. You can clear all stored data at any time by uninstalling the extension or clearing its storage through Chrome's extension settings.

Permissions

Tab Brake requests the following Chrome permissions:

• tabs — To count your open tabs and display their titles on the "limit reached" page.
• storage — To save your settings and usage history locally.
• alarms — To record periodic tab-count snapshots for the usage chart.

Third-party services

Tab Brake uses no third-party services, SDKs, analytics, or tracking tools.

Changes to this policy

If this privacy policy is updated, the changes will be noted here with a revised "last updated" date.
